Team GB gymnast Ashley Watson has set an incredible world record on the horizontal bars.
Watson, 26, has been with the Great Britain squad since he was 15 and attempted to propel himself between the bars from a backflip.
Watson attempted the daring feat at Leeds Gymnastics Club as he flipped from the first bar three times to generate an impressive speed.
On the final flip he launched himself across the floor before backflipping in mid air – and landing on the opposite bar.
The astonishing jump was measured at 5.87m – or over 19 foot – and smashed the previous Guinness World Record.
The successful attempt was fortunately caught on camera but it was the eighth time he had tried it.
“It was amazing, I didn’t realise I had caught it until I was swinging around on the other bar,” Taylor said.
“I caught it on the sixth attempt but I let my legs bend a bit – so I couldn’t let that one go out on film.”
Watson, sporting an impressive moustache, took to Instagram to show off his certificate.
The gymnast is best known for his work on the parallel and high bars and has competed at British and European Championships in recent years.
He has shown off his impressive – and at times bizarre – training methods on social media – much to the humour of his 55,000 followers.
Among the clips uploaded was one of Watson and best pal and fellow gymnast Luke Stone launching themselves off parallel bars before embracing in the middle and landing in a foam pit.
