A paraglider who died in a tragic accident had become a dad again for the third time just weeks before he lost his life.
Rafal ‘Ralph’ Skora’s body was found in the Wicklow mountains yesterday.
A GoFundMe page has been launched by heartbroken pals to help the family of the 41-year-old taxi driver from Artane pay for his funeral.
They hope to raise €50,000 (£43,300) to help his young widow Dominika Skora, who doesn’t have access to her late husband’s accounts, reports Dublin Live .
Pals told how as recently as Friday – the day before he left his house for the last time – the goodhearted taxi driver found a voucher worth €500 (£430) which had been left in the back of his cab.
He was in the process of trying to establish where the wedding was to be held so that the expensive gift could be reunited with its owner.
The fundraiser reads: “Rafal died in the Wicklow mountains yesterday. He didn’t have any funeral insurance and his wife doesn’t have access to his accounts.
“On Friday he posted on Facebook a wedding gift that he had found in the back of his taxi – a voucher worth €500 (£430) – he was trying to find the wedding venue to return it.
“Thats the sort of guy he was. He leaves a widow and three children. The last two under three. Kind, enthusiastic and honest.”
Rafal’s body was found after a search was carried out by gardai, the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue and the Irish Coast Guard .
His remains were discovered around 8pm on Sunday morning in the Ballinacor Estate in Wicklow, along with wreckage.
Rafal’s heartbroken wife had recently given birth to a baby girl, with the couple already parents to a three-year-old son.
She told RTE News: “Rafał was a good friend and a pilot. But most of all, he was the best husband to me, and father to our children.
“All I’m asking of those who knew him is to never forget him.
A close neighbour described Rafal as a really nice guy who was delighted to have become a dad again.
The man told the Irish Independent: “I read it online and it said the man was from north Dublin, but I didn’t think it could be Rafal.
“It is very sad for his family. He was a really nice guy, and so happy to have become a father again. It is terrible,” he added.
So far the GoFundMe page has raised more than €5,400 (£4,600) towards its target in just two hours.
Pals paid tribute to the tragic pilot in the comments section of the page.
One wrote: “The Irish sky has lost one of its birds.”
Another said: “Ralph was a great guy and will be sadly missed, my most sincere condolences to his wife and family”.
