A man has been charged with the murder of a 24-year-old who was stabbed at a gym run by actor Idris Elba’s kickboxing trainer.
Charles Riddington is accused of killing George Barker, who was found fatally injured at the Double K Gym in Bexley, south-east London, on November 14, 2016.
He also faces three counts of possessing an offensive weapon
Riddington, 36, is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday, the Metropolitan Police said.
The Double K Gym, which has operated at several premises in south-east London, is run by Kieran Keddle, who trained Thor and Luther star Elba.
Mr Keddle, the gym’s head coach, trained Elba ahead of a professional fight in Thailand in October 2016.
He said at the time the star had become a “family member of the gym”.
Elba, 46, is best-known for his lead roles in The Wire and Luther.
The dad-of-two won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for portraying the title character in Luther 2011.
