Three young friends – two from the same small village – died in a horror smash after their car ploughed into a 4×4 on a dark country lane.

Teenagers Peter Eyre and Daniel Leafe were killed alongside Aiden Edmonds when the Ford Fiesta they were travelling in smashed into a Land Rover Discovery then demolished a stone wall.

Father-of-one Mr Edmonds, 25, and his friends were all pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Buxton, Derbyshire, on Wednesday night.

Last night as a community mourned the local MP said her “heart goes out” to the families of the victims and praised the emergency services who tried to save the young men.

Paramedics rushed to the collision on the outskirts of the town, just after 6.30pm on Wednesday night, but they were unable to save the trio.

Peter Eyre, also 18, was likewise pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Buxton

Fire crews using cutting gear managed to free the driver of the other vehicle who was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Peter and Daniel, both 18, lived in the small community of Peak Dale, Derbyshire, just over a mile from the scene of the tragedy.

The road was closed for almost 10 hours as crash investigators inspected the scene of devastation. Police have not revealed who was at the wheel of the Fiesta.
