Alex Jones has revealed she hosted The One show just an hour after suffering a miscarriage back in 2017.
The presenter opened up about the moment she discovered the heartbreaking news.
‘We learnt the baby didn’t have a heartbeat. I was around 14 weeks, which is a decent amount of time,’ she explained.
‘The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a ton of bricks.’
The 42-year-old went on to host the show despite being told to take some time off by her boss.
‘I said, “What else am I going to do?”‘ she added to The Telegraph’s Stella magazine. ‘It’s a horrible feeling because it is so empty. There’s nothing to say. It’s done.’
Alex already shares her son Teddy with husband Charlie Thomson, who she’s been married to since 2015.
And, in December, she confirmed she was pregnant again, showing off her baby bump live on the show.
‘No I haven’t been eating all the mince pies! There is a little baby, look! I am expecting another baby,’ she laughed.
However, things haven’t all been smooth sailing, with the star going to hospital for a check up when she couldn’t feel her baby moving.
Luckily, all was fine, but she spoke out afterwards about the importance of checking when in doubt.
Alex said: ‘Hadn’t felt much movement from the baby for a few days so lying here being monitored. If in doubt mammas ALWAYS check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat.’
She added: ‘All was fine at the hospital. His or hers little heartbeat was going like the clappers but good to check. Thanks for the messages.’
She has spoken out about expanding her family in the past, and previously explained how difficult it was to conceive her second child with Charlie.
‘I have to say, the first time – absolutely fine. Luckily, God, it happened,’ she previously told The Sun.
‘But second time, not as easy. I suppose I’m older now, but we took it for granted that it would be OK. But you don’t really know until you start trying how it’s going to go, do you?
‘The majority of couples I know have had something, not always IVF, but some problem that needs to be sorted out.’
